Mary is the Director of the Wild Coast Volunteer Programme, where she brings her passion for youth development, education and adventure to life.
As a South African, Mary has also lived and worked in Manila, the Philippines, where she worked in corporate development while at the same time taking the opportunity to explore a bit of Southeast Asia. Hiking to the top of Mt. Kinabalu in Malaysia, just one of these many experiences.
Mary graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Organisational Psychology from Rhodes University, as well as an Honours in Organisational Psychology from the University of Cape Town. She then later went on to complete her Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
After completing her teacher’s qualification Mary transitioned into the education sector and is currently a full-time Grade 4 teacher at an Eastern Cape Primary School.
Outside of the classroom, Mary is an avid wildlife enthusiast who loves exploring South Africa’s natural treasures, especially the Kruger National Park—home to the iconic Big Five. She also enjoys playing sports, hiking and music.
Mary continues to balance her love for teaching with her passion for adventure and discovery, inspiring young people to embrace learning opportunities in all aspects of life. Mary is deeply committed to treating each Volunteer Programme participant as an individual, whilst fostering growth through language and learning.

Trevor Page brings a wealth of experience and a deep passion for rural development to his role as Operations Manager of the Wild Coast Volunteer Programme.
In 2022, a local newspaper carried a heartfelt appeal for leadership to revive the struggling fishing industry along the Wild Coast — a vital source of income for many in the area’s most vulnerable communities. Answering that call, Trevor stepped forward to help breathe new life into the small-scale fishing sector.
By the end of 2023, he had successfully secured the historic Old Trading Post together with the Phumalali Seafoods fish processing facility. In March 2024, Phumalali Seafoods officially reopened under his management, restoring production and creating much-needed local employment.
Trevor’s commitment to sustainable development soon led him to expand beyond seafood operations. He attracted new investment to upgrade the property and its adjoining resort, introducing solar power, a large swimming pool, entertainment areas, and a fully equipped kitchen — all contributing to the success of the award-winning guest house accommodation on-site.
Recognising the need for greater self-sufficiency in the remote Wild Coast region of the Eastern Cape, Trevor also established an integrated aquaponics and poultry system, producing fresh vegetables, herbs, chickens, and eggs for both local community consumption and tourism use.
Driven by a vision of empowerment through enterprise, Trevor continues to lead operations with energy, innovation, and a deep respect for the people and environment of the Wild Coast, supported by participants attending each 3-Month Volunteer Programme.
When not busy with operations and projects, Trevor enjoys surfing, swimming and trail hiking.

Buzz is the heartbeat of adventure at the Wild Coast Volunteer Programme. Previously a serial entreprenuer across many industries and enjoying jumping out of helicopters and fixed wing aeroplanes. From previously leading soldiers as an Officer and Platoon Commander in the SADF to training elite troops as a PT Instructor at 1 Parachute Battalion, he knows what it takes to build courage, strength, and teamwork.
But Buzz isn’t just about discipline — he’s about adventure. He’s conquered the legendary 56 km Two Oceans Ultra Marathon (and a number of standard 42 km marathons), conquered the 8 km open ocean swim Port Elizabeth Bellbuoy Challenge, completed many annual Sabrina Love 6 km open ocean swims at Plettenberg Bay and represented Border in Surfing. Whether on land, sea, or sky, Buzz pushes limits — and inspires other Wild Coast Volunteer Programme participants to do the same.
Along the way, he’s travelled and explored 24 countries to learn more of their people and cultures. Buzz has also worn many hats: High School Prefect, Rugby Team Captain, Johannesburg Software Company (Shareholder and Marketing Director) , International Financial Planner, Advanced Scuba Diver, and Parachutist.
Buzz now currently enjoys surfing, yacht sailing, surf-ski paddling, diving, trail running and open water swimming and sharing his life-enhancement skills with the Wild Coast Volunteer Programme participants.
Today, aided by the Operations Director and supported by his Instructors, Buzz brings that blend of leadership, endurance, and excitement to every Wild Coast Volunteer Programme participant experience, making sure they discover and learn just how far they can go.
